Program for 2024 / 2025
Meetings are usually held on the 4th Wednesday of each month.
They are a blend of in-person get togethers and occasional virtual, using Zoom.
Members should refer to their emails for details on how to join in.
Throughout the summer months we also run a programme at our Apiary site.
SEPTEMBER 2024
ASSOCIATION MEETING: 25/9/24:... (Wed)
This will be our AGM followed by chat about wasps and other pests and general member questions about their beekeeping year so far and the coming winter ahead.
Held at our NEW and hopefully permanent home at
1st Comber Presbyterian Church Halls

Comber.
THE COMBER HORTICULTURAL SHOW will be held again this year.

Traditionally this has been the local honey show connected with Killinchy Beekeepers Association and we are keen to see as many members take part as possible.
It is great fun to take part and who knows you may even win. There are multiple chances for KBKA members to win cash prizes and even silverware!
The show also has all the usual horticultural classes for fruit and Veg and flowers and jam etc.
Make sure to come along and support the show- it is a great event even if you are not entering honey and you can get a nice cup of tea and a bun or two.

OCTOBER 2024
ANNUAL UBKA HONEY SHOW AT GREENMOUNT AGRICULTURAL COLLEGE
Saturday 5th October
The UBKA Annual Honey Show in Greenmount College is also combined with the Annual General Meeting. This event is open to public with refreshments served all day. There will be local honey on sale, Association displays.
Exhibits will be accepted on Saturday 5th October 2024 from 8.00am – 10.30am and judging (from our international judges) will commences Saturday 5th October 2024 at 11.30am, presentation of prizes approx. 4.00pm.
Honey in all different guises is presented in as fine a way as possible for the judges to decide who has produced the best. Presentations of wax, candles, wax models, honey cakes, and biscuits all come under the judges’ eye. Entrants have an opportunity to show off their skills.

UBKA Conference at Greenmount, CAFRE
The theme is “Read Our Bees - The Next Chapter”. A medley of science, practical beekeeping and workshops covering: introductory beekeeping, microscopy, skep making, the art of mead production, encaustic art and more.
